The Inspiration Behind the Scent:
Janine was the most amazing neighbor a young girl could ever have. She was kind, funny, wise, beautiful and French. As a teenager in a summer house full of older, somewhat strict New England aunts, Janine was a welcome respite and I recall the time we spent as if it were yesterday. Her house perched on a cliff overlooking the rocky Maine coast. The windows had no screens and the sea breezes blew the scents of her exotic garden throughout the house. I learned to speak some French that summer and became enchanted with the incredible ease with which Janine decorated her old cottage. Vintage linen tablecloths became curtains, mismatched silverware sat beside an array of china on the table and preserve jars served as endless vases for the continuous bouquets of flowers. - Robin
